Our client is looking to recruit a talented Laboratory Technician to join their growing Research and Development laboratory. Due to their substantial business growth and as a part of our ongoing company expansion.
Our client specialises in the development and manufacture of water based, solvent free paints and coatings. They have grown from a small family run business to the UK’s market leader in water-based coatings technology.
As a Laboratory Technician, you will take a part in developing new water-based paints and coatings by formulating products, prepare samples for testing and analysis. You will be required to present your results in both internal and external reports and presentation to the Technical Manager or to the customer.
About the Role:
- Prepare samples for analysis with due regard to required accuracy and precision.
- Carry out rigorous testing on various products and record findings.
- Carry out some routine analysis on samples.
- Apply samples using various applying method’s such as spray, roller coat or dip.
- Support Quality Control department.
Responsibilities as a Laboratory Technician:
- Running multiple projects.
- Working as part of a team.
- Investigate product problems arising from customer and non-conforming paints.
- Suggesting different way of making / using different materials.
- Reporting results.
- Communicating findings and sharing information.
- Working under specific deadlines.
- Be able to carefully write or type technical reports on the work completed.
- Maintain and control samples in R&D.
- Responsible attitude and be able to take responsibility for projects carried out.
- Quick learning skills are key for this role, to understand raw materials.
- High input in to Health and safety and housekeeping is a must.
Requirements:
- Scientific background.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory environment is beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to learn quickly and work both as an individual but also as part of a team.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
