Our client is part of an international chemicals and coatings organisation and currently the leader in printing processes including digital, flexo, gravure, lithographic and screen printing using energy-curable inks and coatings and label and narrow web inks.

They are seeking to appoint an entry level Chemist who is able to assist in developing new products for the use in various digital printing segments which are aligned with the company strategy. The candidate will work (as part of the laboratory based Electronic Materials Group) by contributing towards customer support activities, on the support and maintenance of existing products and development of new products. They will also work closely with Technologists and the Project Leader, carrying out a range of daily activities in the laboratory as required.

Main duties and responsibilities: 

•    Technical skills and ability to resolve problems across the specific product or application area, including e.g. an understanding of raw materials / ink chemistry / printing applications / technologies etc.  
•    Specific testing to defined standards or tolerances of samples, products, raw materials and the like.  
•    Follow all appropriate procedures effectively and perform all appropriate tasks within set time scales and to set standards.  
•    Ensure appropriate data is recorded accurately and in a timely fashion, ensure the regular maintenance of all records.  

Competencies:

•    Proficient in the use of laboratory techniques and knowledge of SOP’s.
•    Written and verbal communication of technical investigations.

Salary in the region of £24,000.
